The criminal justice system isn’t working

We believe in a justice system that listens to victims, cuts crime and delivers value for taxpayers. Agree? Add your name now to support our call for safer streets:

THE UK’s JUSTICE PROBLEM

Crime is blighting communities and costing the British taxpayer £240bn per year – more than the entire NHS budget.

The neglect of our justice system has created overcrowded prisons plagued by drugs and violence, victims waiting years for justice, and sky-high reoffending accounting for 80% of all crime.

It’s little surprise that public confidence has collapsed, and 9 in 10 victims don’t have confidence in the justice system. People don’t feel safe and don’t trust the system to fix it.

finding common ground

Our debate on crime is stuck in the same tired loop of "tough vs soft", where everyone talks over the people actually living with the consequences.

But most people aren’t at the extremes – they support both punishment and rehabilitation, consequences and second chances. This is the common ground we’re uncovering.

We’re calling for a justice system that is:

EFFECTIVE

Cuts crime, reduces reoffending and delivers good value for taxpayers.

TRUSTED

Commands widespread support across political divides.

victim -Centred

Puts the voice of victims and communities at the centre.
